Caregiving for an 86-year-old senior (90 kg, 175 cm) focuses on comprehensive care for a client with significant motor limitations. The gentleman suffers from the effects of a vertically displaced disc, type 2 diabetes, and heart valve issues. Currently, he spends a lot of time in bed and is mobile only with the help of a wheelchair. He has limited functionality in both hands, requiring assistance with food intake (food cut into pieces, drinks through a straw). Mentally, he is in a condition corresponding to his age and is oriented. Your assistance will be essential in all self-care activities, including complete hygiene, dressing, and changing (incontinence). A key task is transferring from bed to wheelchair and regular repositioning in bed. The household is barrier-free and is gradually being equipped with additional aids such as a nursing bed, shower chair, and toilet riser. The job also includes accompanying him on walks in the wheelchair. In addition to caregiving, you will manage the household in an apartment with an area of 90 m², which includes cooking, laundry, cleaning, and shopping. Night assistance is not a regular requirement and depends on the client's current daily condition. For a caregiver with intermediate German knowledge, a spacious room (20 m²) with a private bathroom and internet connection is provided.

The caregiver pays for the journey themselves, with the family in Germany contributing €150-200 towards it, and in Switzerland 380 CHF.
In Germany, the standard length of a work period is 4 to 6 weeks, while in Switzerland it's 2 months. In the case of temporary replacements, the periods are shorter.
The salary range in Germany is between €1200 and €2200 per month on a trade license. Compensation depends on the required language and other skills, the client's health condition, and whether care is provided for an individual or a married couple. In Switzerland, the salary ranges from 2460 to 2500 CHF per month on a Swiss employment contract.
In Germany, an intermediate to good knowledge of German is most commonly required, while some families are satisfied with basic knowledge and/or require knowledge of another language, such as Czech or Russian.
